Maybelle Farm, a fourth generation grain farm, growing peonies and pumpkins on the prairies.
Our story
We are a fourth generation farm, in Floral, Saskatchewan, on the east side of the City of Saskatoon. In March of 1900, the Hoge family applied for a Homestead, building a home in 1902, and a few years later the beautiful barn we still have on what we now call Maybelle Farm. They were granted the title on May 13, 1905, with different generations of their family farming until it was sold in 1945 and then again in 1950.
Then in 1955, Jock and Mabel Blacklock (our family) purchased what is now Maybelle Farm, with Jock naming it Maybelle after Mabel. They started with a dairy herd, then moved to Polled Herefords. In 1988, the second generation of Dale and Patricia Linn grew Maybelle Farm into the grain farming operations we are today. In 2010, Robert and Erin Linn became the third generation owning Maybelle Farm, with daughter Catherine as the fourth generation living on the Farm.
Besides grains, today we grow over 200 varieties of peonies, over 50 varieties of specialty pumpkins and other florals as well at the Farm. Our peonies, florals and pumpkins are sold to the public, florists and local businesses in and around Saskatoon.
We are still a working grain farm, so we are not open to the public to visit. However, you can join us at the Farm by booking a workshop, or through one of our collab popups at the Farm.
Our barn is still a local area landmark, restored in 2019. She has seen over a century of crops, animals, families, growing seasons and even barndances, and now looks over our pumpkins and peonies too. In 2021, we also restored an old farm building, transforming it into our Floral Studio. It is a beautiful space to hold workshops in and sell our peonies and pumpkins from.
Peonies
Our summers on the Farm are hot and our winters are cold, so peonies thrive in our climate and rich soil. We are the largest peony farm in the province, with the most and widest variety of peonies, including over 200 different varieties of peonies. From white, blush, red, pink, yellow, coral, and even green, we grow them all. From the fluffiest and fullest petals on full double and bomb style peonies to beautiful ethereal singles, the beauty of our peonies is unmatched in Saskatchewan. With both herbaceous and intersectional (Itoh) varieties, the range of scents, colours, and forms is stunning. To enjoy the Farm and our peonies, you can sign up for a peony arranging class in our beautiful Floral Studio. Many of our peonies are rare and need extra care, as such we do not offer u-picks to ensure they are correctly harvested in order to produce the most beautiful blooms.
Our peonies can be purchased as stunning fresh cut bouquets, from our farm to your home available from local florists. Each year, brides love filling their weddings with our peonies in spectacular arrangements designed by local florists.

Pumpkins
Pumpkins, gourds, and squashes, we grow all of the beautiful and tasty varieties. From basic orange, to white, black, blues, greys, greens, pink and blush, we have them in all sizes, shapes and colours. Each fall, the Floral Studio fills to the brim with pumpkins for you to choose from.
We grow the largest variety of types of pumpkins, squashes and gourds in the Saskatoon area. We import specialty seed not grown elsewhere in SK. Many of our varieties require specific harvesting times and techniques to ensure they are picked and cured properly, as such we do not offer u-picks. But, we have the most beautiful locally grown pumpkins for you to work with in our popular pumpkin workshops. Book one of our many unique and bespoke pumpkin workshops to enjoy fall and pumpkins in-person at the Farm. Our pumpkin workshops are the best way to enjoy a prairie fall evening, and let us teach you how to create a beautiful floral pumpkin arrangement, from fresh to dried florals, and even succulents.
